Is Vimeo all you need?

27th February 2018 by Ellen Jackson Leave a Comment

Is Vimeo all you need?

We all know how videos are becoming increasingly more popular. It’s all anyone talks about. Our timelines are full of social media videos, whether it’s videos of cats going viral or your favourite brand’s newest advert. Over 500 million people are watching video on Facebook every day (via Forbes). EVERDAY!! That is a huge audience just waiting to see your videos.

It only seems right, therefore, that Vimeo, a video platform, would up its game in the world of video content. Vimeo over the past several years has been very similar to Youtube, offering a way of sharing videos and linking them to your social media sites and websites. However, Vimeo is changing! It is now positioning itself to be a hub for video creators, providing all the tools they need, whether that is hosting, selling or even subscription services.

Vimeo’s newest feature rolled out mid February 2018 is called ‘Publish to Social’, this allows you to upload to several channels as native videos and not links. Vimeo is acknowledging that Facebook is prioritising native videos uploaded directly to the site, against linked ones. Getting you more views with just one click.

Not only is this new tool going to save time when uploading, but it’s also going to be a great asset to those without fast internet.

When you’re ready to upload your corporate video, Vimeo is looking like the place to do it. You can view all your statistics for your different channels on the vimeo dashboard too, such as plays, likes and views.

This isn’t the only new tool that Vimeo has rolled out, it’s also created a new tool called Simulcast, allowing video creators to live stream to sites that allow live video, including Facebook, Youtube and Periscope.

We look forward to hearing more of Vimeo’s new tools as they release them.
